  • Vocalist

    Description: Member of St. James worship team. Must sing solos and harmony parts.

    Qualifications: Must be comfortable singing in front of large groups. Previous worship band experience preferred but not required. Must be able to understand harmony parts. Informal audition required.

    When: At least one Sunday/month.  Required Wednesday night band practice prior to Sunday service.

  • Musician

    Description: Musicians learn and play music selected by worship leader for Sunday morning services and possible special events. Instruments needed include acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard/piano and percussion. 

    Qualifications: Must have adequate knowledge and understanding of basic musical theory. Instrument proficiency expected. Must be committed to personal practice time. Must be able to work and play with other musicians. 

    When: At least one Sunday/month. Required Wednesday night band practice prior to Sunday service and weekly personal practice.

  • Traditions Choir Volunteer

    Description: Attend Wednesday night rehearsals to learn anthems and special music.  Provide support for, and lead the congregation in worship each Sunday. 

    Qualifications: A desire to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord” by sharing your talents, or your love of music. Reading music/auditions are not required. Instrumentalists please see contact below.

    Description: Communion occurs weekly in Tapestry service and monthly in Encounter and Traditions.  It is also prepared for specials services like Christmas Eve and Good Friday.

  • Usher Team

    Description: Ushers are participants in worship and use their gifts of warm and inviting personalities to greet and welcome people. They collect offering, provide extra chairs and guide people during communion. Ushers are also needed for special services and funerals. 

    Qualifications: Ushers must possess a kind, welcoming demeanor as they serve. They must also have a good working knowledge of the flow of the service and continue to keep themselves informed on the order of worship.

  • Upward Soccer Head Coach

    Description: As an Upward Soccer Coach, your goal is to provide a great soccer experience through teaching good sportsmanship, connecting with your players and sharing the love of Jesus Christ. You would have the choice to coach a K4-K5 team or a 1st-4th grade team (You will be provided a Coach Training Guide Packet) for Fall season or Spring season. 


    Qualifications: 

    1. Complete coach application (contact Recreation Minister for application) 
    2. Fill out a background check (contact Recreation Minister for form) 
    3. Attend one coach training meeting (TBA) 
    4. Lead an hour of practice each week for eight weeks. 
    5. Attend and coach a one hour game each week on a Saturday for eight weeks. 
    6. Attend the awards celebration at the end of the season.

  • The Connect (Shut-In Ministry)

    Description: These volunteers visit our shut-in/homebound members as well as people that could use a visitor. The purpose of this ministry is to connect with people by building relationships and sharing the love of Christ. All needs are different. 

    When: Each volunteer is asked to visit once a month, with a phone call or card for special occasions in between visits. After you have met with your special person you will be able to discern what their need is. We ask volunteers to make a year long commitment to this ministry with the option to sign up the next year if their schedule or ability permits.

  • Prayer Team

    Description: Be a part of a team lifting up people’s cares and concerns to the Lord in prayer. Weekly or on a rotating basis. Prayer requests delivered daily to the team as well as being present in the prayer room on a rotating basis. 

    Qualifications: Anyone with a heart eager to pray diligently for the needs, concerns, and praises of our church family, community, and world; must hold all prayer requests in strict confidence/maintain confidentiality.

  • Renew Bible Study

    • Greeters: Greet and welcome people with a loving smile to Bible study. 
    • Media: Run sound and input songs and scriptures. 
    • Hospitality: Plans and organizes fellowship events. 
    • Research: Researches certain scriptures and subjects for Bible teachers. 
    • Publicity: Publicizes Renew through church wide notifications, as well as community resources. 
    • Registration: Registers individuals for Bible study
    • Worship: Lead worshipers who will help carry the congregation into the presence of the Lord through song and scripture.
    • Prayer: Meets to pray weekly for the Bible study time and is available to pray with and for others.
