What is a SJLife Group?

A SJLife group is a gathering of 10-15 people who meet regularly as a community to encourage and support one another in their spiritual journey.  Life groups are a place to “do life together: living, learning, loving, eating, playing, serving and resting together.” Everyone desires to have love, acceptance, passion and purpose.  In SJLife Groups you’ll find those and so much more.

Why should I join a SJLife Group?

As good as it is to participate in our Sunday morning worship services, they are not enough for you to be all that God has for you.  God intends for us to be in relationship and our SJLife Groups provide a place for you to grow in your relationship with Him and other people.

When & where do these groups meet?

Our SJLife Groups meet on various days and times of the week.  Some will meet in homes throughout the community and others will meet at the church.

How long does a group last?

Most of the groups will meet weekly for a 1 year commitment.

 Which group should I join?

You may choose to join a group for several different reasons: either a friend invited you, the location works for you or even because of similar interests or station in life.

What about childcare?

Childcare will be provided for groups on Sunday and Wednesday nights. If a group decides to meet at another time, it will be up to each family to work out their own childcare.  Sometimes it works best for families to share a sitter or to swap childcare with another family whose group meets on a different evening or time.

 What will we study?

The study curriculum will be diverse and the study schedule will be coordinated by the pastors in conjunction with the SJLife Group Task Force Team.  All the SJLife Groups will be studying the same thing together.  We may study a sermon series, a book, a DVD teaching series, etc.  There will also be “Open Sessions” where each group will have an opportunity to select what they would like to study from a designated resource list.

What goes on at a SJLife Group?

Though each group will differ on how they do things, many groups will have a social time in the beginning, then they will  transition to a time where they discuss the material they are studying and pray for each other.  There will be opportunities for outside fellowship times as well.
