Saint James Children’s Ministry

We are focused on helping your children discover, develop and experience the love of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to grow, nurture, and disciple children into a lasting relationship with Him, and equip them to share His love with others.

Fun: We bring kid-inspired fun to every service and classroom through energetic worship music, interactive games, and bright, friendly environments. Our team is made up of people who feel called to share the love of Jesus with kids, and every Sunday they help bring excitement and enjoyment to your child’s church experience.

Your child’s safety is incredibly important to us, and we are committed to a system that creates a safe environment. This means our staff and volunteers in every service and classroom have completed a background check and adhere to the United Methodist Church Safe Sanctuary Policy. They are thoroughly trained and immersed in a culture of safety and cleanliness with the wellbeing of your child in mind. Security check-in systems are used for all Children Ministry events and the area is under constant video surveillance.

Learning: As a church, we are always investing in the next generation, and this starts with babies and kids. From praying over infants to sharing relevant Bible lessons with elementary kids, our goal is for each child to learn about the Bible and experience God’s presence weekly. We encourage parents to engage with their kids about what they learned on the ride home.

Baby Dedication

Throughout the New Testament, the Bible teaches that baptism is a public expression of worship symbolizing the new life we have when we follow Jesus. In the Bible we see that Jesus’ parents dedicated Him to the Lord (Luke 2:22–40), and He was later baptized as an adult (Matthew 3:16–17). We understand that some churches practice “baptism of confirmation” for children. This ceremony is intended to be a commitment between the parents and God on the behalf of the child. The parents promise to raise their child in the faith until the child is old enough to make his or her own personal confession of Christ. This custom began about 300 years after the Bible was completed and is different from the biblical examples of new believers being baptized to publicly profess their faith in Jesus. With a heart to follow this Biblical model, we provide opportunities for baby dedication. Schedule a baby dedication by contacting Children's Director, Jennifer Aughtman at

Through Saint James you have access to watch over 2,000 kid's episodes in the RightNow Media Kid's Library. Stream them in the living room or on the road. These Bible-based shows will educate and entertain children of all ages.

Water Baptism

We are so excited that you are considering baptism for your child! Every child can have a personal relationship with Jesus, and we encourage them to make a decision to follow Him. We advise parents to wait until their child is asking to be water baptized. This is usually a good indication that they are ready to be baptized and that it will be a spiritual milestone in their life. While children under the age of seven can have a relationship with Jesus, they will not necessarily remember or understand the significance of water baptism, so we encourage parents to wait for baptism until they are a little older. As you discern if your child is ready to be water baptized, we encourage you to use this question and devotional guide PDF (coming soon). If your child is ready to be baptized, their next step is to make plans to attend our next baptism event. Contact Children's Director, Jennifer Aughtman for details:
